Gerard Martín in doubt for Paris: Flick decides tomorrow after a stamp
Barcelona face PSG at the Parc des Princes with Gerard Martín still being assessed after a blow to his foot—final call Tuesday morning.
Gerard Martín of Barcelona is a doubt for the match at the Parc des Princes vs Paris Saint-Germain after a stamp that left him uncomfortable when putting weight on his foot. The club returned from Seville with concern over his condition, while Eric Garcia and Jules Koundé are also injured.
Per Mundo Deportivo, the MRI carried out on Sunday showed Gerard has no injury, but the swelling still caused discomfort. The plan remains the same: monitor his evolution to decide whether he can play against PSG. All parties have been scheduled for a final decision on Tuesday morning.
Defensive options in Paris
This week also features the key tie against Real Madrid, and with Koundé and Eric missing, Flick brought Àlex Campos to Paris. The Barça Atlètic centre-back makes his debut in a first-team squad and will wear the number 41 shirt. In his press conference, Flick laid out two defensive options: Rodri—who has played as a centre-back for Manchester City and Spain—and Frenkie de Jong, who has been used as a centre-back at times but has yet to play minutes this season. Koundé did not travel to Paris, with Flick expecting him to be available for the Clasico.
