Gio Reyna scores on his return and starts to build momentum at Strasbourg vs PSG
Gio Reyna found the net in his return to the starting XI as Strasbourg lean into more regular Ligue 1 minutes.
Gio Reyna (Strasbourg) returned to the starting lineup and capped it with a goal this Saturday against Paris Saint-Germain, in a match that ended with PSG taking all three points. As The Guardian points out, the goal is a sign that the American is finally getting the consistent playing time he’d lacked.
The context is the injuries that disrupted his early momentum: after his 2020-21 breakthrough in Germany, he spent several seasons struggling to cross the 630 league-minute mark. This term, though, Reyna has become a regular in a youthful Strasbourg squad, whose average age is 21.6.
Reyna also addressed his focus during the most recent US window, saying: “Keep showing up every day, training, recovering… I feel good, though, and I’m feeling more confident every time I step on the pitch”. He was the only player to start all four friendlies in the September/October international window, before being managed at club level and then restored for the PSG visit.
