Girona eye a big run: four of five at home

Girona are hitting a decisive part of the season with an obvious advantage in the schedule: four of their next five matches will be played at Montilivi. As MARCA notes, Quique Álvarez’s side is coming on strongly after a run that has seen them win three of their last four since the market closed, losing only to Castellón, and gaining momentum thanks to their 1-2 win at Cádiz.

Four of five at home

The crucial run begins on Friday against Albacete, a game presented as Girona’s first chance to move into the top area. MARCA adds that the visitors are yet to win in the league, which makes Montilivi a must-win setting for Girona.

After that, Girona host Mallorca, also at home. The stretch then features a heavyweight test: on Sunday, 4 October at 9:00 pm, Castellón come to Montilivi—an opponent fighting directly for promotion. MARCA expects an intense, close match given both teams’ quality.

Once the two home games are out of the way, Girona will travel to Tenerife for the Monday, 12 October at 9:00 pm fixture—at the same stadium where they won promotion to Primera for the second (and last) time.

Back home to press again

The plan continues with two more matches at Montilivi: Andorra on Sunday, 18 October at 6:30 pm, and then Celta Fortuna as the second visitor, with the day and kickoff time still to be confirmed. MARCA stresses that both sides can swing wildly thanks to the youth in their squads, so the message for Girona is simple: Montilivi has to be a fortress if they want to aim for direct promotion.

So far at home, Girona have already dropped five points—two in the season opener (1-1 vs Leganés) and three in their game against Castellón.
