Glenn Nyberg will referee Atlético vs Manchester United at the Metropolitano
The 37-year-old Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg takes charge of the European clash at the Estadio Metropolitano, with past history of a draw vs Club Brugge KV.
Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg (37) will take charge of Atlético de Madrid vs Manchester United at the Estadio Metropolitano on the day after tomorrow. He has already officiated in this Champions League edition, including Napoli vs Arsenal on the opening matchday.
Nyberg’s most recent European record with Atlético is the prior season’s playoff first leg against Club Brugge KV, which finished 3-3 in Bruges. Before that, the only Atlético Youth League match he refereed was in 2019-20, when they lost on penalties to Ajax in the round of 16.
Manchester United also remain without a win in games officiated by Nyberg. The most recent instance came in the 2024-25 Europa League quarter-final first leg in Lyon, where they drew 2-2 with Olympique. The VAR will be run by the Dutch official Pol Van Boekel, as Mundo Deportivo reports.
