Gorka Guruzeta out for the season: ACL rupture in left knee
Guruzeta suffered an ACL rupture on Saturday and faces an estimated six to eight months out.
Medical tests have confirmed Gorka Guruzeta’s ACL rupture in his left knee. The Athletic striker was injured last Saturday at Mestalla, coming on from the bench and going down six minutes later.
The injury will require surgical repair in the coming days at a medical center with IMQ coverage. Recovery is expected to take between six and eight months, meaning the season is over for a player who is tied to Athletic until 2028. It’s not his first time with this problem: in 2019 he had a similar issue in his right knee.
The setback hits an Athletic attack that hadn’t kicked off the Copa yet and with only seven LaLiga matches fully played so far. Iñaki Williams and Maroan are the main alternatives for the forward role Terzic is considering for the first team.
