Hansi Flick’s Barcelona hit by defensive doubts: Martin and Eric Garcia injured vs PSG
Barcelona head to the Parc des Princes with three defenders carrying knocks after a 2-5 win at Betis: Flick will decide on Tuesday.
FC Barcelona go into their Champions League showdown with Paris Saint-Germain this Tuesday with defensive injury doubts. In the 2-5 win over Real Betis on Saturday, Gerard Martin and Eric Garcia picked up physical issues, while Jules Koundé also felt discomfort, according to RMC Sport.
Hansi Flick was cautious ahead of medical tests: “For now, the most important thing is their recovery,” and “we’ll see how we manage their minutes on Tuesday.”
Knock-on effects in defense
Martin was taken off at half-time as a precaution due to a heel problem. Garcia, who scored the 2-4 goal, believes it was “just a blow” to his right knee. Koundé reportedly had similar discomfort.
With Andreas Christensen unavailable, Barcelona could reshuffle: Frenkie de Jong may be used in central defense, a role he has covered before, to support Pau Cubarsí. Rodri is also an option, along with youth players such as Hafiz Gariba, Álex Campos or Landry Farré.
Winning streak intact
Barcelona also made it nine straight wins in LaLiga, and they’ve won their first eleven matches in all competitions, including two early Champions League victories.
