Héctor Rodas (Levante) on Valencia interest and the transfer window
Levante’s sporting director covers 30-plus signings, Carlos Álvarez’s injury issues and Etta Eyong’s situation.
Héctor Rodas, Levante’s sporting director, spoke on Radio Marca Valencia about the transfer market, the squad’s next steps and the club’s strong social pull in Orriols. He described a tough summer: it wasn’t only about signing players, but also about balancing the books—over thirty moves in total—leaving him “exhausted” but “proud” of the group.
Renewals and key constraints
Rodas said that with Luís Castro the process was intense, with calls “five or six times a day”. The coach pushed for specific player profiles, while the final decision stayed with the club. On Carlos Álvarez, he pointed to pubalgia and a knock to the ankle that affected his performance, even though he insisted the player’s quality is not in doubt. Rodas also confirmed that Álvarez made it clear he wanted to go to Mexico, despite the club making an offer.
Etta Eyong and Valencia’s call
Rodas outlined Etta Eyong’s situation: the Copa de África backlash, and then the rise of Carlos Espí meant Castro chose him over Eyong. Still, he said the club is working to bring Eyong back to his best level. He also noted that there were major economic offers, but “the player wants to stay”, adding that Valencia had asked about other Levante players too—though what stood out was “the impact” of that phone call.
Finally, Rodas backed Braulio Vázquez for Valencia, calling him the best option among the possibilities because he knows the club, did well at Osasuna, and offers a route to stability.
