Hugo Ekitike targets a December return after Achilles tendon rupture

Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike is aiming to get back in December following an April Achilles tendon rupture.

Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool’s forward, is working back from an Achilles tendon rupture suffered in April and is aiming to return to competition in December. L'Équipe reports that his recovery has been ongoing since the injury, which came on April 14 against PSG.

The 24-year-old had been close to France’s plans but the long layoff has kept him out of the latest call-ups. He took a step forward late in August, starting for Reims—his training club—before spending September at Clairefontaine. After that, he returned to Liverpool to keep his treatment going.

In recent days, Ekitike travelled to the United States, including to see a specialist. He is on schedule for his return, can jog, and the next stage depends heavily on how his body responds.
