Hugo Guillamón back fit: he links Sporting injuries to new methods

The Sporting midfielder says he’s recovered and blames recent absences on adapting to a new coaching staff’s training methods.

Hugo Guillamón is already over the injury he suffered in his league debut for Sporting Gijón and, speaking in Mareo, attributed the squad’s many absences to the team’s need to adapt to “different training methods” under the new coaching staff. The midfielder said he expects “the problem to be solved” and doesn’t see it as a long-term issue: “if there are injuries, it’s because we’re working.”

Guillamón said the month and a half out felt “long” and that getting injured in the first League match at El Molinón was “a difficult situation”, adding he had “never” had a problem like that before.

Sporting now turn to their Sunday match vs Cádiz with seven unavailable players. The club has recovered youngster Bruno Rubio and keeps Álex Corredera in the mix despite knocks, while Antonio Casas missed the last game through injury.
