Hugo Guillamón (Sporting) links injuries to new training methods
Already recovered, Guillamón says the club’s many absences come from adapting to a new coaching staff and different training methods.
Hugo Guillamón, the Sporting midfielder already back from the injury he suffered in his league debut, linked the club’s many absences to the adaptation period needed with a new coaching staff. Speaking in a press conference at Mareo, he said the players weren’t used to “different training methods” and added that “it’s going to be solved.”
The player, who has been training with the group since last week, admitted that the month and a half he spent sidelined felt “long” and described the setback in the first match of the season at El Molinón as “a difficult situation.” “I don’t see it as something bad long-term, because if there are injuries it’s because we’re working,” he said.
On Sporting’s early campaign, Guillamón called it “a bit strange” to receive applause after a defeat and boos after a win. Still, he believes the squad can take a big step with small adjustments. For Sunday’s trip to Cádiz, Sporting will have seven unavailable players.
