Hugo Rincón’s rough night vs Levante for Athletic: red card and sub at the break

Hugo Rincón, of Athletic Club, started again against Levante at Ciutat de València, but his team’s defensive lapses stopped any chance of continuing an unbeaten run. The report highlights that his side left the defence exposed on some goals.

At the other end, he still tried to hurt the rival with overlaps and runs down the wing. Yet his night swung sharply the wrong way: he was sent off after what was called a questionable red, and he was also blamed for the move that led to the 2-0.

As Mundo Deportivo notes, he struggled to look like the version of recent seasons, was replaced at halftime, and remains a work-in-progress in Terzic’s system—often ending up as a third centre-back rather than a true full-back.
