Illya Zabarnyi (PSG) hits back at Marine Le Pen after 3-1 win at Strasbourg
Zabarnyi hopes France’s next president will keep backing Ukraine after PSG’s 3-1 win over Strasbourg on Saturday.
PSG defender Illya Zabarnyi said he hopes France’s next president will “continue helping Ukraine” after PSG’s 3-1 win over Strasbourg on Saturday at the Meinau.
“I know Emmanuel Macron helps Ukraine a lot, and it’s very important for us. We’re really proud of our country, and proud to have a good leadership. I hope the new French president will keep helping Ukraine because we’re proud not only of Ukraine, but of all of Europe,” Zabarnyi said in the mixed zone after the match.
The comments come after Marine Le Pen’s statements. As RMC Sport reports, the RN candidate said she would keep financial aid to Ukraine “for six months” if elected, then would “stop” it afterwards.
The Kiel Institute estimates France has paid a total of €27 billion to Ukraine since February 2022: €19 billion through European aid contributions and €7.9 billion in bilateral support (including €6 billion for military aid, €880 million for humanitarian aid and €800 million for financial aid).
