Íñigo Vicente says the league break was key for “clearing heads” at Racing

The Racing forward believes the two-week pause helped the squad grasp the coach’s ideas ahead of Sunday’s match at El Sardinero.

Íñigo Vicente, Racing Santander’s forward, has praised the league break for “clearing heads” and refocusing: “These two weeks have helped us a lot to clear our heads and be calm.” MARCA points out the team finished the two matches before the shutdown with poor sensations, conceding 12 goals across games against FC Barcelona and Celta Vigo, which brought doubts about the project.

The attacker also stresses the coach’s work: “These two weeks have come in very handy to understand the manager’s idea and on Sunday we’ll show what we’re capable of.” He expects a tough clash against Valencia at El Sardinero, arguing the opponent comes with a new manager and players ready “to be at 100%” to earn a place.

Racing’s season has been split: unbeaten at home, yet still without points away. “All the points we’ve taken, we’ve taken at home… We have to keep delivering that great level at El Sardinero,” Vicente said, aiming for “three points no matter what.” During the break, Pablo García and Zabiri were the only absences for the whole period, while Jorge Salinas missed time for a Sub-20 game. Andrés Martín and Eriksson have already trained with the group and look set to be available for José Alberto.
