Irene Paredes: “La Masia is incredible” after Barça’s 7-0 vs Madrid
The 35-year-old Barcelona centre-back says results prove it as she heads to Spain-United States after the 7-0 Classico win.
Irene Paredes, Barcelona’s 35-year-old centre-back, puts her praise for La Masia in context after Barça’s 7-0 rout of Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou. A few days after that Liga F Clásico, she heads to Washington for Spain’s game against the United States.
Speaking to As, Paredes insisted the numbers speak for themselves: “The results have spoken… it’s true that we have a shorter squad and we’ve had some sensitive absences.” She noted that the four players who left this year were “starting XI players,” adding that “there have been signings and opportunities for B-team players,” with the academy’s work “incredible.”
She also explained Barça’s approach in one line: “We love to compete, we love to win, we love to be better.” Looking back at the 7-0, she said Barça was “very, very good” and that if they played again, “I don’t think that result would happen again,” believing Madrid is stronger than last year.
