Isaac Romero eases nerves with his goal as Sevilla play Trofeo Antonio Puerta

Isaac Romero opened the scoring vs Aston Villa in the Trofeo Antonio Puerta; Unai Emery’s side hit back with Barkley, Garnacho and Jenner.

Isaac Romero of Sevilla scored first against Aston Villa in the Trofeo Antonio Puerta, putting the contest 1-0 on the board before Aston Villa—managed by Unai Emery—responded and lifted the XV trophy. The comeback came through goals from Barkley, Garnacho and Jenner, with the forward celebrating his return to the scoresheet.

Speaking via the club’s official channels, Isaac said that “scoring brings a huge sense of relief” and that, even though it wasn’t in LaLiga, netting in “an important trophy” is “an extra boost to believe in yourself and keep working.” He added that he will be ready “when the manager wants me” to help whenever he gets the chance.

This season he has 1 goal and 1 assist in LaLiga EA Sports, both recorded in the Athletic de Bilbao match on 22 August. Isaac also stressed he had been eager to score, pointing to the added competition in attack after Sevilla signed Robbie Ure and Lucas Stassin last summer, and explained the team enjoyed the day despite facing a Premier League and Champions-level rival—while giving minutes to several canteranos.
