Iván Ania wants the Córdoba to regain confidence against Tenerife

Córdoba coach Iván Ania is preparing Monday’s match against Tenerife with a clear goal: “regain confidence” after a run of five games without a win. The Asturian believes the team must be solid even if they can’t dominate: “when we can’t win, it’s important not to lose,” he said during Sunday’s final training session before the game.

Ania framed the situation after the Tenerife coach’s setup had shifted from early strong sensations to tougher weeks: two recent results include a 5-0 defeat at Castellón and a 1-1 draw vs Cádiz. Córdoba arrives with a confidence boost after an eight-day break that included a friendly-style training match against Málaga, where they won 3-2 on Thursday.

Injuries and key man

Ania also flagged Tenerife’s main threat, Enric Gallego, calling him a player the team “must keep an eye on” after scoring five times in seven appearances. For Córdoba, the medical report affects the lineup: Diarra is ruled out with an injury to the right leg’s hamstring area and tendon involvement. Víctor Sánchez is also unavailable as a precaution, and Iker Álvarez misses the fixture after wrapping up his international window with Andorra.
