Iván Fresneda (Sporting) back on Barcelona’s radar through 2028

Iván Fresneda, Sporting CP right-back, is back on Barcelona’s radar. In Portugal, he’s described as one of the club’s scouting “futuribles” for the blue side’s sporting management, matching Sporting’s push to renew a contract set to end in 2028.

The current moment comes with Fresneda called up to the senior national team during this international break. His rise from the Under-21s was helped by injuries/muscle issues to Eric Garcia.

This isn’t new. O Jogo points out that Barcelona already looked at him three years ago when he was at Valladolid. Back then there were meetings involving representatives of Lian Sports Group, and the figure was considered affordable thanks to a release clause of 20 million, though Valladolid asked for 9. The Borussia Dortmund interest was also mentioned, before the move ultimately landed with Sporting.

The final deal saw Fresneda join Sporting: 9 million plus three in add-ons and a 10% sell-on fee for Valladolid, with a deal running until 2028. Mundo Deportivo reports that the Portuguese claim doesn’t say whether any talks have started.
