Jamie Carragher blasts Florian Wirtz at Liverpool

Carragher says Wirtz shouldn’t start ahead of Gravenberch and criticises his output after 55-60 games.

Jamie Carragher has taken another swipe at Florian Wirtz since his move to Liverpool, pointing especially to his performance against Manchester City and his overall form.

“Koumas and Munoz were better than the two £100m players. Now, that can’t be right, it’s just not right,” Carragher said, arguing the impact doesn’t match the price tag.

He also questioned Liverpool’s selection: “There’s no way Florian Wirtz should be playing ahead of Gravenberch.” Carragher’s verdict is blunt—“NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH”—and he added that, compared to other top teams’ attacking midfielders, Wirtz “never looks like scoring.”

Carragher even flagged set pieces, claiming Wirtz “looks really small” when taking them. He concluded with a timeline: “Wirtz has been here for 55-60 games… and I don’t see it changing,” insisting that if he’s “almost nailed on” in the No 10 role, that has to stop.
