The Professional Refereeing Committee has named the referees for next weekend, and Javier Alberola Rojas is positioned as the leading option to take charge of the El Clásico on Sunday at the Spotify Camp Nou. The designation will not be made official until Saturday, a day before the match, as Mundo Deportivo reports.
Rojas also has his Champions League debut: tomorrow he will referee Sabah vs Borussia Dortmund, assisted by Alfredo Rodríguez Moreno and Carlos Álvarez Fernández. Víctor García Verdura will be the fourth official, with César Soto Grado as VAR and Valentín Pizarro as AVAR.
In LaLiga, he hasn’t officiated either club yet this season. If he ultimately gets his first Clásico, his Camp Nou record with the Barça bench is strong: 13 matches for the Blaugrana — 10 wins, two draws and one loss. Against Real Madrid, he has refereed 19 games: 12 wins, three draws and four defeats.
