Javier Tebas renews his push for a full investigation in the Negreira case
LaLiga’s president answers Real Madrid and targets Real Madrid TV, saying judges must rule and recalling disciplinary prescription.
Javier Tebas, LaLiga president, sent another message to Real Madrid over the Negreira case, defending LaLiga’s role and taking aim at what he views as a narrative being promoted through Real Madrid TV.
Tebas insisted that “what happened was extremely serious and must be investigated to the end,” while separating reviewing past events from building “in 2026” a story claiming Negreira still influences Spanish refereeing. He added that “repeating it from Real Madrid TV doesn’t make it true,” and urged: “Let the courts investigate, all the evidence be used, and the process go all the way.”
He also questioned what, in his view, some people want: “For LaLiga to replace the courts… before there is a court ruling.” Tebas further said that, in Spain’s sporting disciplinary field, the facts are time-barred. He finished by arguing that the matter is serious enough without “inventing” more, naming Real Madrid TV and reporters including @DAlvarez1976, @Paul_Tenorio and @MelchorRuizCope, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
