Jefté on Rubén de la Barrera: “It wasn’t down to the players”
Jefté says the dressing room didn’t push Rubén de la Barrera’s sacking and that they found out via social media. He also talked about the new approach.
Jefté, Las Palmas forward, addressed the rumours surrounding Rubén de la Barrera’s sacking in a press conference. He insisted “the dismissal… wasn’t down to the players” and said he found out on social media, adding: “I didn’t know anything.” He also denied that any first-team players sent messages online to the coach: “You don’t have to make everything public. We say goodbye to Rubén de la Barrera while we’re here.”
On Las Palmas’ clash against Mallorca, Jefté said there was no mutiny in the second-half break: “we were just talking.” With the former coach already gone, he pointed to the present under Juan Manuel: “We’ve been with Juan Manuel for very little… we’re working on the concepts he wants.” Jefté also took responsibility: “Everyone, especially me, has to take a step forward… now is the time to stick together and get out of this.”
