Jeremy Mellot’s suspension confirmed: he misses Castellón vs Ceuta

The RFEF’s Disciplinary Committee dismissed CD Castellón’s appeal over Jeremy Mellot’s sending off against Leganés. The French full-back must therefore serve a one-match ban and will miss this Sunday’s game versus Ceuta at SkyFi Castalia (18.30), as reported by Sport.

Mellot was shown a red card in the closing moments of last Monday’s Leganés-Castellón, which finished 0-2 for Castellón. The incident came as he went in on Unax del Cura, with the referee upgrading it to a straight red; it also led to a penalty for Leganés, but Matthys saved Álex Millán’s spot-kick.

The Committee upheld the referee’s decision, stating the action falls under article 130.1 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code (violent conduct during play or as a direct consequence of a challenge). The ruling, published this Wednesday, also includes the additional fine under article 52. The ban adds to coach Pablo Hernández’s problems ahead of Ceuta’s visit in Segunda División’s eighth round.
