João Cancelo turns into a “killer” and nets three goals

João Cancelo, Barcelona full-back, is enjoying a standout scoring run in the 2026-2027 season: he has three goals in his last six matches between club and Portugal. Mundo Deportivo notes that in this stretch he has hit the net two times for the Blaugrana and four times for the Portugal national team.

The hot streak began with a goal vs Racing de Santander on September 16 and continued shortly after, when he scored from outside the box with a deflection off an opponent. Against Sevilla, three days later, he started but didn’t find the net.

With Portugal, after the first two games came vs Wales (1-0, September 24) and Norway (1-2, September 27), he returned to scoring vs Denmark (2-4, October 1) and did it again vs Norway (2-1, October 4). Mundo Deportivo points out he had never produced a run of three goals in such a short space of time, either at club level or with Portugal.
