Jonatan Martín banned for two matches for insulting the fourth official

The ban comes after a sending-off

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the RFEF Disciplinary Committee has published new penalties, with the biggest one affecting Jonatan Martín Martínez, the Valencia goalkeeper coach. Martín was sent off during the match in which he made his debut at Mendizorrotza, stepping in due to the absence of Carlos Corberán within Óscar Sánchez’s interim setup.

The report says Martín was shown the red card in the 82nd minute for approaching the fourth official in a protest, shouting the insult “Vete a tomar por culo”. It also includes another line attributed to Martín: “Debería ganar el Balón de Oro, no hay otro como él”.

Two matches out

Mundo Deportivo states that the penalty is two games, based on Article 124 concerning “disrespect or contempt” toward referees, officials, or sports authorities when no more serious offence applies.

Games he misses

As a result, Jonatan Martín will be unable to sit on the bench at Mestalla next Sunday against the Real Sociedad, and he will also miss the following match versus Racing de Santander.
