José Bordalás: Getafe drew 1-1 with the Rayo after Djené’s red and Carvajal’s debut
Bordalás analysed the 1-1: praised Carvajal’s debut, regretted Djené’s sending off and demanded fewer cards.
Getafe boss José Bordalás spoke after a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano, with the match shaped by Djené’s red card in the first half. The coach described it as “survival again” and insisted the team has to fix the discipline issue: “there are many sendings off… we can’t allow it.”
Debut and a message
Bordalás focused on Carvajal (Real Madrid), saying he deserves praise for his debut: “He’s a professional… he’s integrated very quickly, a leader.” He also claimed the defender has handled the move well and that the dressing room is “very happy” because he will “give us a lot throughout the season.” The manager also sent support to Valencia and the families of those who died.
Cards, tactics and Terrats
On the game’s flow, Bordalás blamed forced losses in the first half for helping Rayo and said the team tried to stay closer and stop space. He criticised the card count—“21 fouls and ten bookings”—and compared it to the Premier, arguing that here they receive “twice as many.” For Terrats, he said a substitution was made to protect him after a heavy shoulder knock and that he needed to be infiltrated before.
