Joseba Etxeberria makes the Albacete playing style non-negotiable
On Monday at Valladolid, the Alba sit bottom as Etxeberria uses three more sessions to lock in his model of play.
Joseba Etxeberria has made it clear that his Albacete will have a non-negotiable way of playing as he prepares for his debut on Monday at Valladolid. The new coach says he won’t reveal his starting XI yet: “I have an idea of the possible eleven, but there are still three sessions…”.
Work in phases
His message is built around training in phases: “Today it’s our offensive phase and tomorrow it will be the defensive phase.” Etxeberria also wants fans to recognise the model from the stands: “I want them to be very clear on what kind of team we’re going to be…”.
He points to the same areas he raised at his presentation: the team has “arguments of play”, but needs to improve in the areas—both “offensive effectiveness” and “defensive decisiveness”. He’s confident in his attack (“we have forwards with goals”) and insists there’s no debate in goal (“we have two very good goalkeepers”).
Trying to win at Valladolid
For the Monday trip to Valladolid, he believes they can hurt their opponents and adapt to their style: “we can do them damage.” Despite being last, he insists there is time and tools to turn things around. Source: MARCA.
