Julián Álvarez apologises to Atlético fans for World Cup remarks
According to Fabrizio Romano, the striker says his comments were a mistake, both in how he said them and when, and says he feels better on the pitch.
Julián Álvarez has apologised to the Atlético Madrid fans for what he said during the World Cup, after the long summer saga. Fabrizio Romano reports his comments to Movistar: the Argentine admits that both the way and the timing of his words were his mistake.
Álvarez says he understands why supporters were angry and admits he would have been upset too if he were in their place. He adds that the backing the fans have shown him makes his error even harder to excuse, and he also thanks his teammates for supporting him over recent months.
On the pitch, he says he has felt better physically and with the ball in the last few matches, and wants to help the team with his best version. He hopes that through hard work and humility he can turn the situation around.
