Julián Álvarez edges toward a new agent as Barquero gains traction

Julián Álvarez, Atlético de Madrid’s forward, has decided to end his professional relationship with agent Fernando Hidalgo and is weighing several offers. According to Mundo Deportivo, the choice is “well underway,” with Pablo Barquero the option that’s convincing the player and his family the most, and a deal is expected to be formalised soon.

Among the names that surfaced as possible replacements were Javier Pastore and even Jorge Mendes, but Álvarez appears to be leaning toward Barquero. The reason is the good rapport they already have, built during the player’s Manchester days, when he met Rodri and they got to know each other.

Barquero also handled Rodri’s move to Barcelona this summer, bringing him even closer to the Barça orbit. The club is the destination Álvarez dreams of: last summer he said he wanted to leave Atlético to make it happen, although he never publicly named the Catalan team. The switch comes after a difficult summer marked by negotiations and a failed Barça attempt, which left him worn down both professionally and personally.
