Kasper Dolberg out after cruciate ligament injury: blow for Ajax

Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee and is set for a long spell after being operated on Tuesday.

Kasper Dolberg is set to miss the rest of the season for Ajax after tearing the cruciate ligament in his right knee during training. The 27-year-old was operated on Tuesday and the club said the procedure went well. On the results side, Ajax sit fifth in the Eredivisie with 15 points, five behind leaders AZ Alkmaar—making Michel González’s challenge even tougher.

Dolberg said through Ajax’ official channels: “The operation went well… In the coming months I will have to focus completely on my recovery. I will return soon to Amsterdam to continue my rehabilitation there.”

The Danish Football Association had earlier warned on X that the injury would keep him out for a prolonged period. Dolberg has scored three goals in nine matches this season and added three assists, during his second stint at Ajax.
