Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (PSG) extension: talks continue despite ACL injury

PSG plans to keep talks for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract extension going despite the torn ACL in his right knee picked up against Barcelona on Tuesday in the Champions League (4-2), according to RMC Sport. The injury has led to surgery being scheduled within the next ten days, before the end of the month, although the exact length of his layoff will only become clearer after the operation.

The club has already started negotiating numbers, with PSG’s clear goal being to extend the Georgian’s deal until 2032. The remaining hurdle is agreeing on salary terms: Kvaratskhelia knows his value has risen after two strong seasons, while PSG wants to keep control of the wage bill within the financial framework set by its leadership.

Internally, the line remains that the squad can cover it together. Losing Kvaratskhelia should mean more responsibility and playing time for Godts and Maghnes Akliouche, while Ferran Torres is also expected to return quickly to his best form after struggling in the Barça game.
