Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (PSG) faces a test vs Barcelona in the Champions League

Kick-off at 21:00 at the Parc des Princes. After being benched vs Man City (4-2) and struggling vs Strasbourg (3-1), scrutiny is rising.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a winger for PSG, heads into this Tuesday’s Champions League clash at the Parc des Princes against Barcelona (21:00) under scrutiny. He has not been an automatic starter since the start of the 2026-2027 season: last week he came off the bench versus Manchester City (4-2), and at the weekend he disappointed against Strasbourg as the team won 3-1.

On RMC Sport’s L’After Foot, François Clerc suggested something is off. He said: “Si Kvara démarre, il va jouer gros”, before adding that “we feel a sort of discomfort”, with the sense he is “tête baissée” and not really there. Daniel Riolo went further, arguing the gap between Champions League and Ligue 1 could become a problem and warning that the message could end up being “stop”.

Florent Gautreau even floated the idea that Luis Enrique could leave him on the bench, especially if Kvaratskhelia’s attitude stays the same. Walid Acherchour pointed to inconsistency, noting the only solid first-half match last year was vs Rennes (5-0), with the rest of his early-season form described as “average”.

For now, whether he starts or comes on later, attention will be fixed on whether the georgian can deliver when it matters.
