Konrad de la Fuente sidelined for derby as Sporting’s attack thins

Sporting head into Sunday’s derby at the Carlos Tartiere with the injury report getting heavier as they enter the final stretch of preparation. Konrad de la Fuente (Sporting Gijón) remains out after several days dealing with knee discomfort, and his derby absence is already being treated as settled while further tests are carried out, according to Sport.

The winger missed last weekend’s game against Andorra and is dealing with an issue in the same knee that required surgery. Early assessments suggested an edema on the cartilage, so the club has avoided setting a specific return timeline.

Final training before derby

Gaspar Campos still has a chance: he rejoined training with the group this week and his progress in the last sessions will decide. By contrast, Bruno Rubio is ruled out due to hamstring discomfort, though tests showed no serious injury. Hugo Guillamón and Andrés Ferrari are also unavailable as they recover from their respective issues. The squad trains this morning in Mareo, and on Saturday the session will be open to fans.
