LaLiga files complaint over chants aimed at referee at La Rosaleda

LaLiga has filed a complaint over chants directed at the referee during Thursday’s Málaga-Villarreal match at La Rosaleda, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

In the submission, LaLiga states that the song was sung in a coordinated and collective way for roughly 9 seconds around the 70th minute, from local supporters in specific Fondo Sur seating sections (112, 114, 116, 220, 222, 224, 226, 228 and 230). The document also notes that fans outside those areas maintained appropriate behavior.

Report and potential penalties

The chants were directed at referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias. The match ended with Málaga losing 1-3, and the 85th minute was particularly decisive due to a penalty decision against Málaga that led to the visitors’ third goal.

As Mundo Deportivo explains, Málaga complied with the usual match requirements, but the case could result in a financial sanction and even a partial stadium closure affecting one of the stands.
