LaLiga forces Almería to alter the Indalo-themed shirt

LaLiga has blocked Almería’s plans for their second kit, the one that puts the Indalo front and center. As MARCA reports, the competition requires clubs to display the official badge in official matches, meaning the Indalo shirt can’t be worn with just that figure as the only chest emblem.

The issue comes at a time when the team had already rolled out the first and third kits in the opening stages of the season. MARCA says that this Sunday at Son Moix, Almería were set to unveil their second shirt—but with a key change: the official club crest would need to be placed on top so the design complies with LaLiga.

The reason: the crest rule

According to MARCA, the decision is grounded in the general regulations of the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, which set strict requirements for clubs’ corporate identity on the pitch. The outlet adds that if a team wants to use an alternative or commemorative version for commercial or design purposes, it must be registered and approved in advance by the relevant authorities before the season starts.

What will change on the kit

The article also claims LaLiga had already told the club between July and August that it would not allow the Indalo kit as the only chest badge. With the season underway, Almería has been forced to find a workaround by placing the official crest over the Indalo image.

MARCA further notes that LaLiga is particularly strict about size: the crest can’t exceed a maximum area of 100 square centimeters, and it must fully cover the Indalo. For now, the shirt will still be sold in the official store featuring the Indalo—but it won’t be exactly the same version the team uses in official competition.
