Lamine Yamal drives Barça to a 1-4 win and ramps up PSG hype

Barça beat Galatasaray 1-4 and arrive at Tuesday in Paris with two big wins in the Champions League opener.

Barça, led by Lamine Yamal, came back in Istanbul to beat Galatasaray 1-4 and strengthen its Champions League credentials after two blowout victories to start the campaign. In that same early matchday, they had already thrashed Feyenoord 5-1.

Against the Turkish side, the numbers say a lot: Barça racked up 22 shots, with 11 on target, and still had to turn the game around. Yamal was named MVP and provided two assists, helping Fermín and Gordon flip the score, with Adeyemi sealing the win.

A comeback with purpose

Under Hansi Flick’s blueprint, Barça doesn’t lean on just one route. Cancelo set the tone before halftime, Fermín arrived from the second line, and Gordon was the player with the most attempts, scoring the goal. Dani Olmo, deployed as a false nine, contributed with link-up play, an assist for Joao, and chances from distance.

Joan García also stood out later on, making two key saves, recording seven recoveries and three anticipatory interventions. The catch: Barça have now played 17 straight Champions League matches conceding at least once.

Tuesday at PSG

On Tuesday, Barça head to Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes in what the paper frames as one of the best matchups you can see in Europe. After this round, Barça were tied on points and goal difference with PSG and Aston Villa, although PSG are provisional leaders for having scored one more goal.
