Lamine Yamal set for his first Clasico at Spotify Camp Nou
The Barça-Madrid clash comes with Real Madrid six points behind and Lamine back after a left hamstring injury.
Lamine Yamal will play his first Barça-Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou after missing the league celebration in May due to injury. The FC Barcelona winger suffered a left-leg hamstring injury shortly after the build-up to the match on 10 May, when the club’s 2-0 win featured goals from Ferran Torres and a free-kick strike from Marcus Rashford.
As Mundo Deportivo notes, the plan is to deliver a “kill blow” to a Real Madrid side that arrive with six points’ gap. It will also be Lamine’s first Clasico against José Mourinho, with the coach’s well-known approach to taking key Barça players out of the game. Weeks earlier, Lamine said in an interview with Jorge Valdano that he sees himself as a top candidate for the Ballon d’Or on Monday in London and wants to become the youngest winner in history at 19.
His Clasico record stands at five wins and four defeats, with three goals and two assists—both coming in the 2025 Copa final. Lewandowski added his endorsement: “I want Lamine Yamal to win the Ballon d’Or”.
