Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez sink DC United with a 4-0 win
Inter Miami dominate 4-0 at NU Stadium: Messi hits his 23rd MLS goal and Suárez grabs a double to keep them second in the East.
Coming off his farewell with Argentina, Lionel Messi delivered again for Inter Miami, scoring twice in a 4-0 win over DC United at the NU Stadium. Luis Suárez was just as key, netting two goals and effectively deciding the tie in the first half.
With FIFA dates spread over three weeks, Messi started and played all of Inter Miami’s league matches, only traveling to Argentina for the international friendly the previous Tuesday. In that match, he scored once and added two assists. Counting internationals too, he has now scored in five straight games.
Suárez put Inter ahead early in the second half, converting inside the area off an assist from him, before Messi capped the night with a cross-shot finish after an impressive dribble through three defenders. Suárez had already struck twice in the first half, both times benefiting from assists by Germán Berterame.
Inter Miami remain second in the East on 49 points, behind Nashville, who started the matchday with 60, according to Mundo Deportivo.
