Lucien Agoumé explains his bond with Sevilla: “I wanted to enjoy it here”

The French midfielder, tied to Sevilla until 2028, turned down a reported €30m bid from an Arab source and stayed put.

Lucien Agoumé, a Sevilla midfielder, says in an interview that his stay wasn’t a coincidence: “I wanted to enjoy it here”. The Franco-Cameroonian arrived on loan from Inter as a bet from Víctor Orta, and Sevilla secured 90% of his rights after two separate payments of €4 million in two different transfer windows.

Money vs. his own call

Agoumé also revealed that Sevilla have had offers to sell him, but he didn’t feel like leaving. In Marca, he explained why he rejected a bid reportedly from an Arab source that would have brought €30 million to the club: “It wasn’t such a complicated decision… yes it was a lot of money, but in the end everyone chooses what makes them play football.”

Even with links to a Premier League club, he stayed calm and focused on Sevilla: “Those things don’t change anything for me… What matters to me is playing my football and enjoying it here with my team-mates.” He remains under contract with Sevilla until 2028, a decision he says he’s happy with, “together” with the club.
