Luis Carrión becomes Leganés’ fifth coach: starts vs Mallorca
After relegation in May 2025, Leganés rotate managers again and this Saturday Carrión debuts against Mallorca.
Leganés have confirmed Luis Carrión as their fifth head coach in just over a year. He will take charge this Saturday at home vs Mallorca, after the club’s relegation to Segunda in May 2025.
As reported by MARCA, the instability began with Borja Jiménez leaving after the team dropped a division. Paco López was brought in to start a new phase, but his spell ended in December. After him, Igor Oca couldn’t reverse the momentum and was replaced by Carlos Martínez, who led the side during a must-win stay in the league against Mirandés.
The run of changes
Once that moment passed, Leganés went for Rubén Albés, with Álvaro Morata among the project’s main references. But a run of four straight defeats—and no goals scored—finished with the coach losing his margin.
Carrión said in his press conference that he had already held talks with Leganés in previous seasons, even though the move never materialised then. The club now hopes the new plan will bring back competitiveness and, crucially, stability.
