Luis Enrique sets the PSG plan to stay on top in the Champions League
He is tied to the club until 2030 and PSG travel to the Etihad on Wednesday after a mixed Ligue 1 start.
Luis Enrique is driving Paris Saint-Germain with an ambition of extending the run in Europe: the aim is to keep building toward a third straight Champions League title. The side head to Etihad Stadium this Wednesday sitting sixth in Ligue 1, with three wins, two draws and one defeat.
Continuity as a method
As BBC Sport notes, PSG’s season is built around the hardest problem in football: winning after winning. Luis Enrique’s deal runs until 2030 and, when the club confirmed it, it also handed new contracts to Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz, Willian Pacho, Lucas Beraldo and Senny Mayulu. The technical staff has also stayed very stable since Luis Enrique arrived in 2023, with Joaquin Valdes handling player-by-player contact and Rafel Pol acting as the key second-in-command.
Depth and smart rotation
The report stresses that PSG now have luxury in squad depth. Luis Enrique can regularly leave out key names without the team suffering. Against Le Mans, he used eight players who would not start against the biggest opponents and then, once the game was level, introduced four of his main stars to seal the win. With Gonzalo Ramos, Bradley Barcola and Lee Kang-in all gone, the attack has been refreshed, and Dani Gil (COPE) points to new arrivals as more driven competitors.
