Luis Enrique tweaks his XI without Nuno Mendes, with Lucas Hernández
PSG keep their European template: Dembélé is a starter again and Lucas Hernández takes over the left-back spot.
Luis Enrique is set to face Barcelona with an XI very close to the one used in the club’s recent Champions League finals, but with one key change due to Nuno Mendes’ injury: Lucas Hernández will play at left-back instead of the Portuguese.
After the shake-up he introduced in La Ligue 1, the coach has made eight changes lately, though the overall shape still resembles the team that beat Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at home and the side used in the 2-4 win at City. In Europe, the plan keeps Dembélé as a fixed point, with an offensive-minded 4-3-3 that isn’t rigid.
PSG XI
- Safonov
- Hakimi
- Marquinhos
- Pacho
- Lucas Hernández
- Fabián
- Vintinha
- Neves
- Doué
- Dembélé
- Kvaratskhelia
Up front, PSG’s approach is clear: Dembélé brings the main goal threat, while Kvaratskhelia and Doué focus on creating disruption. Barcelona, meanwhile, starts Gerard Martín with Rodri beginning on the bench, and Lamine is the forward the PSG have to deal with. As Mundo Deportivo reports, Dembélé has worked well as a ‘false 9’ recently: two goals and two assists versus Slovan, plus a goal and an assist against City.
