Luis Enrique won’t blame Man City despite financial fraud case

PSG faces City on Wednesday at 21:00 in the Champions League as the English club was found guilty over 1bn€+ financial fraud.

Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain, refused to pile pressure on Manchester City despite the English club being found guilty in a financial fraud case. The City-PSG Champions League match is set for Wednesday at 21:00.

The case relates to overstated revenues and understated costs exceeding 900 million pounds (more than one billion euros). A sanction has yet to be announced, on a date that has not been specified, with the harshest scenario including losing multiple titles and being excluded from the competition, according to RMC Sport.

Champions amid the noise

On Tuesday, Luis Enrique said it’s “a lot of noise around big clubs” and that “it’s Manchester City’s turn”. He stressed the need to wait for the final ruling: “We’ll have to wait for the final decision of the person who will make it.” He added that “everything done on the pitch was incredible” and that trophies “earned on the field stay on the field.”

Since the club was taken over by an Emirati fund in 2008, City have won eight Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League under Pep Guardiola.
