Luis García furious: red card and penalty against Mallorca at Eibar
Mallorca drew 1-1 at Ipurua after a red for a penalty incident; Luis García criticized VAR decisions after the match.
Mallorca coach Luis García hit out at the refereeing after his side’s 1-1 draw at Ipurua against Eibar: the game swung when John Chetauya was shown a red card for a penalty foul on Iván Gil (0-1).
The trainer said the first penalty came from “a completely residual contact”, adding: “Sorry, but I can’t swallow this one.” He also criticized the VAR process, insisting: “If someone says that’s a penalty… they don’t know what football is, or what residual contact is.”
Mallorca went ahead with a goal from Adri Fuentes, but after falling to ten men, Eibar levelled by converting another penalty in stoppage time.
