Luis García: Mallorca may sign a replacement for Antoniu Roca (over four months out)
The coach won’t rule out adding a player for Antoniu Roca’s long injury and heads into the Girona clash with Manu Morlanes sidelined.
Mallorca coach Luis García hasn’t ruled out bringing in reinforcements after Antoniu Roca was hit with a long-term injury expected to keep him out more than four months. Ahead of Sunday’s match against Girona, he said the decision will come only after the club talks: “When we talk, that’s when we’ll decide… we haven’t discussed anything and when we meet, we’ll decide what to do,” according to MARCA.
A week shaped by absences
The Catalan winger’s problem comes on top of Manu Morlanes’ ankle injury. Even so, García highlighted the team’s balance: “In the last five games we conceded only one goal… we’re one of the least conceding teams in the league.” He added that the squad has processed the loss to Almería and that they’ve worked to improve.
Girona and the ‘fear clause’
He praised Girona’s “very difficult” transfer window and their position in promotion play-off scenarios. García also addressed Mateu Morey’s absence due to the “fear clause” included in the transfer: “Of course it frustrates Mateu, but if he plays and scores you’ll kill us. Those are things negotiated between clubs and they’re interesting for us.”
