Luis García (Mallorca) slams rumours of De la Barrera sacking

Luis García, coach of RCD Mallorca, labelled rumours of Rubén de la Barrera’s possible sacking at Las Palmas as “outrageous.” The Asturian said criticism always falls on the manager when results go badly: “We live in a world of madness… everything is blamed on results.”

He also stressed that his counterpart is just three points away going into matchday nine: “He’s only three points from us when we enter matchday nine.” García argued that in defeat, “everything is a disaster” and pressure lands on the coach, the sporting director and even the owner.

Ahead of the next match, he referred to facing his former club: “I have a lot of affection for the people I worked with… but I’m a winner and this is about competing.” He added that after the international break, Martin Valjent, Zito Luvumbo and Lucas Bergström are back and available to start.
