Luiz Felipe out after ACL tear with Rayo Vallecano
The Rayo Vallecano centre-back tears his right knee anterior cruciate ligament and will miss a large part of the season.
Rayo Vallecano’s centre-back Luiz Felipe has suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, ruling him out for most of the remaining season, the club announced.
The injury comes after a tough stretch last campaign: Luiz Felipe had torn the hamstrings in his left leg during the return leg of the Conference League against AEK Athens, underwent surgery and missed the rest of the season—though he still travelled with the group for the biggest moments, including the final in Leipzig.
Another serious setback
During the international break, he trained with the group and even made the squad for the trip to Athletic Club. But after training on Friday, 16 October, Rayo confirmed the new problem. In the club statement, they sent him a message of support: “¡Mucho ánimo, Luiz! Estamos contigo”.
Blow for Rayo’s squad
After signing Kumbulla and Mujaid in the last summer window, plus the addition of Pelayo from a loan at Cádiz, the latest absence once again leaves the team shorthanded.
