Luka Modrić keeps the door open for a return to Real Madrid

Luka Modrić, after Croatia-Spain (1-2), looked ahead to the future and left a clear message about Real Madrid: “Real Madrid is my home” and, on the possibility of returning, he said it would be “a dream.” He added that Croatia were the better side for much of the match and that they might not have lost if they had had eleven players.

The veteran also addressed his playing plans, saying he still has the “passion” and “ambition” to keep going. He won’t give a set deadline and prefers to decide match by match based on how his body feels.

On Cristiano Ronaldo, Modrić said he hasn’t spoken with him and regretted the situation in Portugal, insisting that if he doesn’t continue with the national team, he deserves a proper farewell.
