Lyon lose 2-1 at Lens and miss the top spot chance
Lens win 2-1 with goals from Sotoca and Udol; Fonseca’s side remains 2 points behind Monaco.
Lyon, coached by Paulo Fonseca, lost 2-1 at Lens this Friday and missed the chance to go top of Ligue 1. The reigning runners-up hadn’t won in the league since August 22 and suffered their first defeat of the season.
Goals flip the script
Lens took control for long stretches and sealed it with goals from Florian Sotoca (36') and Matthieu Udol (76'), both assisted by Florian Thauvin. Khalis Merah pulled one back for Lyon in the 85th minute, but it wasn’t enough to stop the loss.
As Mundo Deportivo reports, the win came in Yannick Cahuzac’s second match in charge of Lens and delivered his first victory as coach, just four days before hosting Sporting in the Champions League.
