Lyon’s Giraldez and Paralluelo start Champions with an 0-8 win

OL Lyonnes, with Salma Paralluelo and Jonatan Giráldez at the helm, kicked off the Women’s Champions League with a statement: an 0-8 victory over Swiss side Servette in the first round of the league stage. As Mundo Deportivo notes, the result leaves them very close to securing the lead after this opening matchday.

The match was decided early

The scoreline became decisive before halftime. The first goal came in the 8th minute, when Balleste scored an own goal. Not long before the half-hour mark, Katoto doubled the advantage (28’), making the task for Servette extremely difficult.

Katoto completes the hat-trick

Servette couldn’t change the script at the break. They conceded two more times: Katoto again (40’) to complete her hat-trick, and Dumornay made it 45+1’, with Paralluelo providing an assist. Mundo Deportivo highlights that, despite not finding the net, Paralluelo delivered a standout performance.

After the interval, Lyon kept pushing and finished the job. Katoto scored again in the 47th, Dumornay added a goal in the 54th, Strik put one in for Lyon as an own goal, and Benayia sealed the 0-8 in the 89th minute after a pass from Weir.

Mundo Deportivo also states that Paula Serrano, Ascensión Martínez and Paola Hernández came on from the bench for Servette.
