Magunazelaia happy after Eibar’s coaching change
With Jokin Aranbarri, the forward feels important again as Eibar stays solid defensively and creates chances.
Magunazelaia, of Eibar, said he is pleased with the arrival of Jokin Aranbarri and how it has changed his role at the club. The player admits last season was tougher for him, but that he is now back to feeling important, pointing to confidence as the key factor and to how teammates and the Eibar family make everything feel “normal”.
Before the campaign began, the coach set the tone: he wants to look back at the end of the season believing he helped the players through humility, sacrifice and hard work. Aranbarri also highlighted the group’s defensive solidity, saying they are “very solid” both in front of goal and when defending, stressing that Eibar “plays as a team” with commitment from the striker to the last player.
Despite taking one point from six possible, the side’s ability to keep creating chances stands out, with references to matches against Oviedo and Mallorca. Against Oviedo they had many opportunities but didn’t score; versus Mallorca they showed, with grit and clear instructions, that they could win in Ipurua and compete away with confidence.
